Warranty Info

When customers are purchasing carpet there is some concerns at the warranty.  The home owner is responsible for registering and keeping the information for the manufacturer.
As a carpet retail company we offer a limited 1 year warranty for our carpet install.

Matinence... Matinence... Matinence it is a really big deal.
You can void your warranty if your carpet is not maintained correctly.

Below are some sites to register your carpet.  Look for your brand of carpet and click the link associated with it.

SHAW- https://shawfloors.com/flooring/how-to/carpet/warranties/warranty-highlights

TUFTEX/ANDERSON- https://andersontuftex.com/warranty

DREAM WEAVER/ ENGINEERED FLOORS- https://www.dwcarpet.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/12/2017/06/Dream-Weaver-Care-Maintenance-Guide-6.21.17.pdf

DIXIE- http://www.dixie-home.com/web/forms/Warranty.aspx

PHENIX- https://www.phenixflooring.com/files/guides/CarpetWarranty.pdf

GULISTAN- http://www.gulistanfloors.com/assets/resource/warranty/gulistan-warranty-brochure.pdf

MOHAWK- https://www.mohawkflooring.com/customer-care/warranty

As a curtsey we offer a paper to help you keep record of your cleaning with the attached PDF.  This PDF is made so that you can keep all the information in one place.  If you purchased your carpet somewhere else, you can change the information or make one for your self.

As a side note, I do not recommend purchasing your carpet solely for its warranty. I feel that it is a good directive to show the quality of the carpet that you choose.  That being said each manufacturer has very specific things that must be done to warrant your carpet.  If these things are not completed correctly it can void your warranty.

Educate your self

When purchasing carpet it is important to educate your self. When it comes to my opinion I am happy to give it. I have been in the carpet industry for a LONG time and while I am not the Most educated person, I am happy to share the education that I do have. So for me personally here is what I would do.

#1- You live at your house, so GET WHAT YOU WANT but make an educated choice. You don't have to get what is trendy or what your mom or kids say that you should get. You live at your house, you are going to pay for your carpet so GET WHAT YOU WANT.

#2- Bare feet are so rough on your carpet.  I can not over stress this, but if you are going to walk on your carpet with bare feet MAINTAIN your flooring. I have 2 examples that I like to use for this.

Bare feet-
I wear sandals and at the end of the day I take off my shoes and my feet are DIRTY. Then I walk all over my beautiful carpet and it so graciously cleans my feet.  The oils from my feet continue to collect dirt and make your carpet look... AWFUL. So if you are going to take off your shoes then make sure to clean your carpet.

Maintenance-
Your carpet is like your clothing. If you have a something pull on your shirt and stretch it out a little you know that you can wash your shirt and it will be like new. If you stretch your shirt and stretch your shirt and it has gone past the point where it can be saved... it is to late.  Your carpet it the same.  If you clean it regularly then it will maintain its beautiful appearance. When your carpet gets used, used, and used and it looks awful when you clean it then a new memory has been made.  If you clean it when the new memory has been made then it will look good for a week or so then it will go back to its new (matted) memory.

#3- What style of carpet do you like? Bring a picture of a Pinterest post or a friends house, it doesnt matter. Walking into a carpet store is overwhelming, there are thousands of choices for color, texture, yarn, or pattern.  If you have an idea it is easier for us to help you, if you don't have an idea that is okay we can find something that you like.

#4- Fiber types do matter, but so does the construction of the flooring.  Personally I look to see how tight the twist is in my opinion "the tighter the twist, the better the wear" when you have a blown out twist the carpet will blossom and look worn out. Each fiber has a place in the industry. Nylon and Polyester are the main take in the market, each of them have great benefits.  It is also important to know what type of clean ability your carpet has. Carpet has some type of clean ability now days and if I am being honest most of them are pretty great. This section gets really complicated, come on by and we are more than happy to go deeper into it.  We can take into consideration what you have going on at your house (kids, animals, rentals).

Get what you want but be smart about it. Live on you flooring how it would make you happy. Make sure that you MAINTAIN your carpet. I can not stress this enough. Rule of thumb.. Get your carpet cleaned at least 1 time per year and maybe more if you are a bare foot family. The chart below is a guideline.

I hope that this is helpful. I am hoping to go into more depth on carpet education, this is a rough outline for people starting out.

Statement Stairs

Statement stairs:
Making your stairs different than the rest of your home is becoming a popular concept. It adds character to your home and a statement of style. With all the different types of patterns that you can pick from it is very exciting to see how it all turns out.
A few things that I would like to warn you of would be to make sure that the pattern is something that matches your lifestyle. If you have animals (or kids) I don’t recommend full loop carpet, this is because looped carpet can run and can not be repaired (unless you get creative, in that case I would like to know what you come up with). Also the pattern carpet in my opinion wears a little better than some other types of flooring.
It all comes down to personal preference. I like to remind people that you need to get what you like. You live at your home (I don’t) so your opinion is the opinion that really matters!

Keeping it light

When purchasing a new home this lovely lady wanted to swap out the dark flooring for something light.  These colors give the house a airy clean look. In this particular incidence she was not able to see very well and the contrast of the light color carpet with items that would fall on the floor made it easier for her to navigate and be happy in her new home. Although it was hard to find the carpet that she was wanting for a good price she waited almost a year and the perfect piece came and we installed it as soon as it arrived.  We have been working with this wonderful woman with multiple homes that she has lived in.  We always give our opinions and advice (even if you do not want it) so that you are aware.  We see so many different things from so many different people that we like to make sure that we educate you.

The LVP that was installed did not get grouted.  There are a few benefits with not grouting the flooring.
-Easy cleaning
-Smooth flooring
-No worrying about grout lines
The grout for the LVP is easier to clean, but there isn't anything yet that is non stain-able (or self cleaning- please sign me up for that flooring)!

Please feel free to email questions or check out our facebook or instagram page @johnsonscarpetkaysville.
